“Light of the World”

Jesus in this miracle of healing a blind man from birth is a sign that Jesus and the Kingdom of God is breaking into the darkness. Jesus is saying there will be light. I am making all things new. Maybe what Jesus is doing in our lives does not seem as spectacular as making a blind person see but what Jesus is doing in all of our lives if we are willing to open our eyes and heart is making all things new.

Theme: Jesus was claiming to be the light of the world.

The themes throughout the Gospels of Redemption and Resurrection is about Jesus bringing back to life the things that seem dead. Our circumstances can seem so overwhelming but even in the midst of the darkness God can do miracles by shining forth in spite of it all.

Goshen International Church and Community Center

Born out of the long term friendship and ministry partnership between pastors Bigimba Ngabo and Gary Stokes, a multi-cultural church and community center seeking to bridge cultures and provide ongoing support for refugees, and indeed all those who need help with life, is just beginning.

Imagine a gathering place where many local churches can join to impact people for Christ who are in great need through a dedicated community center.

Imagine a unique place of worship catching young refugees, people of all colors and languages, of all ages and experiences who choose to be together because of the love of Jesus.

Why Mission?

Why Church?

Why Mission?

In 2014 our church gave roughly $276,000 to mission partners locally and globally. Many of you support mission partners with your own money as well. So why do we do this?

What do we mean by “missions”?
The word “mission” comes from a Latin word that means “the act of sending.” A “mission work” is a work that can be done by sending someone to accomplish the task.

Who is a missionary?
In one sense, all Christians are missionaries. All children of God are “sent” by Christ into the world with a mission to seek and to save the lost. In a special sense, a missionary is a person sent to accomplish the mission of the church, which is two-fold — making and teaching disciples.

Mark 12:29-31
Jesus answered, “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Bigimba Ngabo
Goshen Ministries is an international organization that seeks to bring Hope to All Peoples. Founded by Pastor Bigimba Ngabo during a time of great unrest in the Central African region, this ministry began in Burundi with a church and orphanage and a great many refugees. Since that time, relocation to the United States has brought a great many of these stories to the Tucson area - and created many opportunities for collaboration in service to children at the orphanage, empowerment of the adults in the African countries and camps, as well as support in the transition to life in the United States. Bigimba and his wife, Aurore, have two children.

God's Calling

Randy Reynolds

Founder and Executive Director of Community Renewal, Randy Reynolds came to Arizona from Southern California on a gymnastics scholarship to the University of Arizona in 1968. While at the U of A, he started a Bible study that grew to become a local church called the Vineyard Christian Community. This church focused on the marginalized, hippies, homeless, and others who needed to find the love of Christ. He served there as the pastor until 1985. In 1985, Randall started Renewal Counseling and served as its founder and executive director until October of 2005. During that time he authored and published nine books and workbooks including Common Grace for Relationships and the Recovery Discovery Series workbooks. In 2006, Randall started Community Renewal, with the mission of transforming the city. Community Renewal’s mission is holistic and for the common good in that all needs and all people matter to God. Believers are encouraged to use their gifts and talents to serve God in our community to bring about “the shalom” of the city (Jeremiah 29:7). Randall continues to counsel part-time and he is working on encouraging the body of Christ to bring healing, development, and the Good News to the poor, marginalized, vulnerable, and broken in Tucson. Randy has four children and ten grandchildren.
