What We Believe

HUMANITY

Theme: We are to see people the way God sees them.

The Biblical view of Humanity is twofold.

First, God Created Humanity in His image.
Genesis 1:27-28 -So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.”

The second Biblical view of Humanity is that we have fallen, that Humanity is awry.
We see the trajectory of humanity gone awry in Genesis 2-10 starting with Adam and Eve, then with Cain and Abel, Noah’s evil age, and the Tower of Babel. In Church history the theological term for this is Original Sin.

In order to see people the way God sees them it is both a conscious choice on our part and a dependence on God softening our heart.

Theme: Again, God calls us to see people the way God sees them.
…Beautifully created
               …But fallen, broken
…And in need of a Savior
