Assistant Director of Children’s Discipleship Ministry

The Assistant Director of Children’s Discipleship Ministry supports the Director of Children’s Discipleship Ministry in the day to day operations of an evolving and dynamic Christ-centered ministry focused on children, from birth to 5th grade, and their families, for an intergenerational church of over 1,100 members. This is a paid, 20 hour per week position.

Position Responsibilities, including but not limited to the following:

  • Support the Director in the day to day operations of Children’s Ministries including Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and mid-week programs.
  • Recruit, organize, and train volunteers for Sunday school, VBS, midweek programs and other events.
  • Execute clerical and administrative responsibilities such as weekly attendance, and maintaining the teacher supply room.

Qualifications

  • Vibrant faith in Jesus Christ and actively pursuing a growing relationship with Him, and a desire to share that faith with children.
  • Previous experience working with children's programs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Fluent in desktop publishing and office software, such as the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of social media and internet-based technology, such as Constant Contact and Facebook.
  • Background check and references required.
  • Previous experience working with K-8 students preferred.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF YOUTH DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRY

The Assistant Youth Director demonstrates a personal deep, abiding relationship with Jesus Christ as his/her Lord and Savior and seek to create a positive, exciting and nurturing environment where middle school and high school students can learn about and grow in God’s love.  The primary responsibilities are to assist the Youth Director in planning for weekly middle and high school youth group and special events, oversee the implementation of Sunday school, and assist in various administrative roles.  This position requires a motivated, energetic individual who can effectively reach out to young people both within and outside of the Church.  The Assistant Youth Director will be committed to working in a collegial environment for building up God’s Kingdom through evangelistic outreach, discipleship, worship and mission.  This part time position (20 hours per week) works with and is accountable to the Youth Director and the Assoc. Pastor of Church Life and Family Ministries

Position Responsibilities, including but not limited to the following:

  1. Assist in the planning and coordination of Middle School Ministry programs and occasionally participates in teaching.
  2.  Coordinating worship for programs including guests for Middle School and High School Program as needed.
  3. Attend Sunday School and teach classes and/or prepare curriculum as needed
  4. Spend time on a weekly basis building relationship with students
  5. Administrative Work (shared time with Youth Director)
    • Sending out regular emails to students, parents and leaders
    • Creating and sending out calendars, flyers, letters, etc.
    • Tracking attendance in all programs and presenting appropriate data to Youth Director and church administrators
    • Organizing and maintaining “advertising space” around Youth Office and Boondocks
    • Help the Youth Director handle registration and deposits for various events
    • Maintain student account information
  6. Along with the Youth Director, help plan, organize, and attend Middle School youth events including camps, retreats and mission trips
  7. Attend all staff and Youth Discipleship Membership meetings as needed
  8. Participate in the life of the church and attend regular worship
