DIRECTOR OF CARING MINISTRIES
The Director of Caring Ministries (DCM) is to oversee the recruitment and training of volunteers in the Caring Ministries Team (CMT) of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and to provide love, prayer and spiritual care to the homebound, hospitalized, or grieving.
Position Responsibilities, including but not limited to the following:
Visitation - Coordinate visits relating to pre-surgery, hospital, homebound, residential care, and hospice.
Coordinate appropriate care, communication, follow-up, and documentation.
Develop, shepherd, coordinate and lead the Caring Ministries Team (CMT).
With assistance from the Caring Ministries Team (CMT), provide vision and guidance for caring ministries:
Faith Community Nursing Ministry
Home Communion Ministry
Memorials - Along with the Pastor/Head of Staff and the Associate Pastor coordinate memorial services.
Along with the Pastor/Head of Staff advises and serves as a resource to the Board of Deacons.
Point Person to coordinate needs of individuals entering the hospital, or in need of care that can be met by self or members of the Caring Ministries Team (CMT).
Coordinate appropriate time to arrive prior to hospital procedures to pray with patient.
Update our “Care List” weekly, outlining upcoming/ongoing visits or care assignments. Share electronically with Pastors/Staff/Caring Ministries Team (CMT).
Convene and lead monthly meeting of Caring Ministries Team (CMT).
Provide a Monthly Activity Report to the Board of Deacons.
Notify Prayer Ministry to place those in need on our prayer list. Pray regularly for them.
Notify Pastors when a St Andrew’s attendee/ loved one has passed away and to provide updated information as it arises.
Maintains confidentiality and works to preserve the dignity of those they serve.
